California, Curated: The DRIFT Edit

California, Curated: The DRIFT Edit

Welcome to The DRIFT Journal

California has a certain energy — sun-worn, effortless, a little wild, and endlessly creative. DRIFT exists to capture that feeling. I curate brands that carry a sense of place, a story, and a pulse. Nothing here is random. Every piece has a reason, and usually a personality behind it.

Some people shop by trend. I shop by intuition.
If it feels like California, it belongs here.

What “California, Curated” means

It’s not about perfection or polish. It’s about discovering brands that make you pause — the kind you see, smile at, and instantly think: I get this.

My job at DRIFT is simple

  • Find the good stuff.
  • The things with soul.
  • The things that could only come from here.

When a brand makes me feel something, I bring it in. And usually, customers feel it too.

A few of my favorites — and why they made the cut

Fat Boy Surf Club

Fat Boy started as a joke — literally. Hats made for a crew of surf friends during lockdown. But sometimes the best things start that way. People around town kept asking where the hats came from, and suddenly a brand was born.

I didn’t know it would become a South Bay phenomenon. I just knew I loved it.

If it makes me smile, it’ll probably make you smile too.

California Cabana Club

This brand has saltwater in its DNA. The founder’s father invented the Cheater Five, one of the most iconic moves in surfing. California Cabana Club blends modern femininity with true surf lineage.

KITSCH

A California success story. A young woman moved from Wisconsin, hand-making scrunchies, and walked into ULTA asking for an endcap — again and again — until someone said yes.

All Swell Surf

A girls-centered surf brand from San Clemente with graphics created by the girls who hang out at their shop. Bright, bold, joyful.

Severson Originals

Surf lineage at its finest. John Severson founded Surfer Magazine; his nephews carry the legacy forward with art-driven apparel from San Clemente.

FaultLine 395

The other California — Mammoth mornings, pine, snow, and 395 highway road trips. Pieces inspired by mountain air and weekend escapes.

Baseballism

Founded in Oregon and adopted by Manhattan Beach families. A favorite for sports-obsessed kids.

Why DRIFT exists

DRIFT is my California in store form: curated, intentional, sun-faded, story-filled. Every brand reflects a side of the state — surf, street, mountain, maker, athletic, coastal.
