Drifting

Marshall Drifting

Originating in Japan, drifting is the ultimate in car control. Drivers fling their cars through corners sideways in smoky slides. Drifting is a judged event, where driving style counts just as much as raw speed. A majority of race fans watch races for those 10-15 minutes worth of “Whoa!!!” moments when a driver loses it and the resultant wreck. Drifting is one solid “Whoa!!!” moment that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats for the whole event.
Drifting is a well-established motorsport in Japan that has a popularity rivaling NASCAR in the US. Judging by the explosive growth of drifting over the past two year in the US, there is serious potential for reaching that level of popularity here. As a result, drifting has attracted the attention of major players in the US automotive industry including Ford and GM.
